The producer of luxury handmade oriental rugs and tapestries – the Megerian Carpets – was founded in New York in 1917. Over time, the company expanded its activities in the markets of Egypt, Russia, China and other countries. The Armenian representation of Megerian Carpets was opened right after the independence in 1991. The company produces carpets based on the principles of the old-style carpet weaving, thus reviving and popularizing this traditional for Armenia craft. There are also contemporary carpets produced by the company. A rich collection of carpets recreated of Artsakh, Vaspurakan and other regions’ design is displayed in the museum.
