Aslamazyan Sisters Art Gallery

In the very center of Gyumri, in the 19th-century mansion, located is the Art Gallery of Mariam and Yeranuhi Aslamazyan Sisters. Once a dwelling house, where the sisters spent their childhood, it was turned into a museum in 1987. The sisters graduated from the State Institute of Art History in Leningrad (Saint Petersburg); they were recognized among the best artists of Soviet Armenia and often represented the republic at All-Union exhibitions. The works of Yeranuhi are displayed on the first floor of the gallery, and on the second floor presented are Mariam’s works. These are paintings and ceramics. The collection of the museum consists of 600 works by the sisters – honored with the title of People’s Artists of the USSR. Apart from the gallery in Gyumri, the works of Mariam Aslamazyan are also exhibited in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
