Sarnaghbyur

Sarnakhbyur (cold spring) village is one of the oldest settlements in Shirak. It is located 7 km south-east of Maralik, at an altitude of 1925 m above sea level. It is famous for its cave at the end of the village. There is a clean cold spring in the cave, and its water is curative, people come for it from afar. According to legend, Gregory the Illuminator spent some time in this cave, and the spring water supported his strength. According to researchers, in the pagan period the cave served as a place for the cult of water, then became a Christian shrine.

You can drive by car directly to the entrance of the cave, which is quite convenient. However, in order to collect water from the holy spring, you will need the help of an accompanying person.
